If you suspect your child may be the victim of ongoing bullying and/or cyber bullying:
- Don’t react immediately
- Approach the school if you are concerned.
- Talk to your child – if you notice any significant changes in their mood / behaviour – don’t ignore it.
- Let them know that they don’t have to carry the whole load themselves
- Let your child know it’s not their fault
- Save the information
- If the bullying doesn’t stop, your child may want to talk to a professional / school counsellor
- Report it to the authorities if it continues
- Look at ways of building your child’s confidence e.g. involvement in sport, music, drama
- Talk to other parents or a support group about strategies that might help
