  • Don’t react immediately
  • Approach the school if you are concerned.
  • Talk to your child – if you notice any significant changes in their mood / behaviour – don’t ignore it.
  • Let them know that they don’t have to carry the whole load themselves
  • Let your child know it’s not their fault
  • Save the information
  • If the bullying doesn’t stop, your child may want to talk to a professional / school counsellor
  • Report it to the authorities if it continues
  • Look at ways of building your child’s confidence e.g. involvement in sport, music, drama
  • Talk to other parents or a support group about strategies that might help
